The 2021 edition of Marias da Malhadinha Red is based on the Old Vineyards of Vale Travessos, planted in 1949. With a concentrated ruby color, complex nose with hints of red and wild berries, a vegetable and spicy touch from large quality barrels. A full and dense flavour, with a tannin presence but fine, elegant and prolonged finish, a Marias for the table and for the cellar.
Grapes were hand picked into 12 Kg boxes and selected at the sorting table. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel lagares with temperature control and traditional maceration. Aged for 28 months in all new French oak barrels.
The 80 hectares of vines sprout on the gentle slopes of drained schist soil, inserted into the terroir and respecting and integrating into the existing ecosystem and biodiversity.
