Respect for the environment and environmental sustainability

Organic farming

Sustainable and extensive

At Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, respect for the environment and environmental sustainability are the guiding lines of action from the very beginning. Environmental sustainability, extending to the social and economic domain, is at the genesis of vineyard planting and occupies the top of the agricultural project properties. With human action reduced to a minimum, is practiced organic, sustainable and extensive agriculture.

Keeping the Alentejo traditions alive, olive oil, honey and vegetables are produced in the existing organic gardens and greenhouses and indigenous breeds are bred in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings.

In the constant and fruitful dialogue with nature and the environment, MicroBioWines, which study the impact on wine-growing processes, are the natural step towards environmental sustainability.

Herdade da Malhadinha Nova is part of the Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program, the only program in the country that provides for the implementation of sustainable measures in several areas of activity, namely in the reduction of water consumption, in measures to preserve the environment, from working conditions to respecting the ecosystem. Malhadinha Nova is one of the first ten producers in the country to receive this seal of Sustainable Production.

Herdade da Malhadinha Nova is also covered by the Sustainable Travel Pledge seal promoted by UNESCO. This seal aims to promote sustainable travel, community resilience and environmental heritage conservation.
